This important Douglas DC-8 was built in 1960 in the version of a DC-8-32/33 and delivered to UAT - Union Aéromaritime de Transport with the registration F-BJLB.
After three years of operation for UAT, it became UTA - Union de Transports Aériens Intercontinentaux in 1963 following the merger between UAT and TAI - Transports Aériens Intercontinentaux.
In 1965, the Douglas with the construction number 83 was converted into a DC-8-53.
In the summer of 1975, the aircraft was leased to TAE - Trabajos Aéreos y Enlaces as EC-CMT.
Air Afrique took over MSN 45568 in 1979 and registered it as TU-TCP.
